Audio designers used to say that the ideal amplifier would be a straight piece of wire with a volume knob on it. What they meant was that source material should enter an amp, then simply leave at a higher volume, without having been altered in any way. In an ideal world this is exactly what would happen, but it's rather like saying that in an ideal world teenagers would never argue. It's a nice idea, but in the real world things are different!

We now recognise that every amp has its own sonic signature - the skill is to put an amp with a CD player and a pair of speakers that match the amp's known sonic signature, to produce the ideal acoustic balance. It's like finding the perfect wine to compliment a particular meal. And that's where we come in, because we have over 20 years' experience of mixing and matching electronics with speakers, to maximise inter-manufacturer synergy. It's a bit of a black art, but just like with wine, if you get it right, the results are sensational!
