Music streaming via wire is far more reliable than via Wi-Fi. If you can't run an Ethernet cable from your router to this unit, then simply buy a pair of mains Ethernet extenders from Amazon for around £25. They plug into your mains sockets and use the mains wiring in your house as an Ethernet cable - they are brilliant!
Apple AirPlay allows the wireless streaming of music from an iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch to this unit, as long as this unit is connected to the router in your house.
Bluetooth only works reliably if both the sending and receiving units are in the same room.

What HiFi's 'Best Wireless Speaker' two years running!

Some of us here at Creative Audio have been selling Naim equipment for nearly 40 years and we all agree that this is by far the most important product the company has ever produced. Why? Imagine Bentley suddenly announcing that it was going to make a rival to the BMW 3-series and you will get a sense of what mu-so means to the Hi-Fi world.

Naim, a company known for manufacturing world acclaimed, top-end audio that can cost up to the price of an expensive house, has produced a one-box music solution for the same price as two of its esoteric interconnects cables! Not only that, but this one-box solution sports state of the art connectivity with on-board Wi-Fi, Bluetooth apt-X, Spotify, Tidal and Apple AirPlay, plus amazing sound quality, thanks to no less than six 75 watt amplifiers driving a total of six in-built audiophile speakers. Not to put too fine a point on it, this is pretty sensational stuff that has had our industry buzzing from the moment Naim initially announced its intention to produce mu-so, over six months ago. The launch itself only served to pour more petrol on the media fire, because as soon as the world's audio critics got their hands on mu-so, they lavished it with more praise in a shorter period of time than I have ever known for any other Hi-Fi product. Only days into its existence mu-so had garnered no fewer than nine 'walk on water' reviews, culminating in it winning outright 'Product of the Year' in What Hi-Fi's prestigious annual awards.

So, is it as good as everyone says it is? The answer has to be a resounding 'Yes' ! And on several levels. The first level is absolute sound quality, where Naim's unparalleled audio heritage shines through, to give mu-so the kind of performance that simply destroys any rival. Naim know how to produce equipment that just sounds 'right' and incredibly musical. In other words they make equipment that brings the joy of a live performance into your living room. Mu-so does that with breathtaking detail, clarity and realism - something we have never experienced before from an 'all-in-one' solution. To be honest, that isn't really too great a surprise, because it is to be expected from a Naim product. However, the second level on which mu-so excels is slightly more unexpected, because absolute sonic performance is sometimes accompanied by the Hi-Fi 'hair shirt' of limited flexibility. Not so with mu-so, which absolutely bristles with the very latest technology. Wi-Fi, Spotify, AirPlay, Bluetooth apt-X, smartphone USB input, optical input and even an analogue input - it's got the lot! Never before have we seen a high end British audiophile product that is so absolutely bang smack up to date from a connectivity point of view. Then, in addition, there is an excellent Apple / Android App that makes controlling mu-so an absolute dream. Or, you could pilot mu-so using its own (included) remote, or via the stunning, backlit, multi-function, touch sensitive circular control dial set into its aluminium-clad top panel, which hails from Naim's £155,000 Statement amplifier. You can even change the colour of the Naim logo that illuminates mu-so's bottom plinth, or buy a different colour grille for it, if you want to match a particular décor theme.

Mu-so is beautifully made, gorgeously styled, sounds sensational and boasts unrivalled connectivity - it is as outrageously good as we had dared to dream it might be. Surely there must be a downside? Well yes, I suspect there may be, because just like if Bentley did decided to make a brilliant 3-series rival, I think Naim will struggle to keep up with demand for this outstanding product!
